Terms of use

These terms govern your use of Ember Rooms. You accept them when you join the club or sit at a table. They are written to be read: where a legal phrase was unavoidable, the sentence after it explains what it means.

Version 4.0 In force from 1 March 2026 Ember Rooms Ltd — 41 Mare Street, London E8 4RP

1. What Ember Rooms is

Ember Rooms is a free social club for games played with virtual tokens that have no cash value. It is entertainment, and nothing more.

Nothing here is played for money. You cannot pay anything into the club, you cannot buy tokens, nothing is ever paid out in cash, vouchers or goods, and no result at a table has any financial effect whatsoever.

The club neither offers, promotes nor links to services where people play for money.

2. Age and access

You must be 18 or over to join. You confirm your age when you register; a false confirmation ends the membership immediately.

The club is aimed at members in the United Kingdom and the European Economic Area. If the law where you are restricts games of this kind even without money involved, you are not permitted to join, and checking that is your responsibility.

3. Your membership

  • One membership per person. Duplicates are merged or closed.
  • Your sign-in details are yours alone. You are responsible for what happens under your membership until you tell us it has been used without your permission.
  • Your table name may not contain abuse, other people’s trade marks, web addresses, or references to services where people play for money.
  • Membership is personal: it cannot be sold, lent or transferred.
  • You can delete your membership at any time from your settings. Deletion is final after 30 days.

4. Tokens

Tokens are an internal counter and nothing else. Specifically:

  • they are licensed to you on a limited, revocable, non-transferable basis for use inside the club;
  • they are not money, electronic money, credit, a security or a crypto-asset, and carry no property right;
  • they cannot be bought, sold, exchanged, transferred, converted or refunded, inside the club or outside it;
  • your balance resets to 5,000 tokens every day at 09:00 Europe/London and does not accumulate beyond the limits shown in the room;
  • we may correct balances that result from technical faults, exploited defects or automated play.

Losing a balance gives no right to compensation of any kind, because nothing of value was ever given for it.

5. Conduct at the tables

You must not:

  • use bots, macros, scripts or modified clients to play or to hold seats;
  • arrange with other members to fix the outcome of a game or empty a table;
  • offer, request or advertise the sale of tokens or memberships, anywhere, by any means;
  • use table chat to promote services where people play for money, financial products or crypto-assets;
  • try to reach rooms, tables or data that are not meant for you, or put load on the service deliberately;
  • harvest other members’ details, including table names, using automated tools.

6. What you write

You keep ownership of what you write. You grant us a free, non-exclusive licence limited to showing your messages to the other people in the room and keeping them for the period set out in the privacy notice.

We moderate the rooms: we remove discriminatory, harassing, sexually explicit, threatening or promotional messages, and we can mute the people who write them. Report anything from the table, or to [email protected].

7. Our content

The Ember Rooms name, logo, text, interface, table artwork and code belong to Ember Rooms Ltd or its licensors. You may use them to take part in the club and for nothing else: no copying, decompiling, resale or derivative works without our written permission.

9. Availability

The club is provided as it is, with no promise of uninterrupted service. We may close a room for maintenance, change how a table works, or stop the project altogether — in that last case with at least 30 days’ notice. As the service is free, there is no compensation for downtime.

10. Suspension and closure

We may suspend or close a membership that breaks these terms, with immediate effect in serious cases: under-18 accounts, fraud, attacks on the service, or promoting places where people play for money. We tell you why by email, and you can challenge the decision at [email protected] within 30 days — a different person reviews it.

11. Breaks and self-closure

From your settings you can shut yourself out for 24 hours, 30 days or permanently. During a break you receive no club emails and cannot get back in, not even by asking support — that is the point of the feature. Permanent closure cannot be reversed, and we keep only a hashed email address to stop the membership being reopened.

12. Liability

So far as the law allows, we are not liable for indirect losses, for data lost through your acts or those of a third party, or for being unable to use the club. Nothing in these terms limits our liability for fraud, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for any right the law gives consumers that cannot be excluded.

13. Complaints

The club is free and open-ended: you can leave at any time by deleting your membership. Send complaints to [email protected] and we will reply within 14 days. Nothing here affects your statutory rights.

14. Changes

We may update these terms. Material changes are announced by email and in the club at least 15 days before they take effect. If you do not accept them, delete your membership before that date; continuing to play afterwards means you accept them.

15. Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer living elsewhere in the UK or in the EEA, you keep the protection of the mandatory rules of your own country and may bring proceedings in your local courts.
